The plans for the Hurricane Deck Bridge may include a new bridge and old piers.
Bob Lynch from MoDOT said on the Monday Ozarks This Morning that the consultants are currently looking that direction for some cost savings.
“They have been studying it to use those existing piers and every day it looks more and more like the direction we are going in,” Lynch said. “They recently gave us some hard numbers that shows several million dollars they can save by going in that direction.”
The piers are still highly safety rated.
A full replacement of the bridge was estimated at $30 million dollars.
MoDOT is still holding their online meeting about the Hurricane Deck Bridge at www.modot.org/central. That lasts until the 15th of this month.
