An 18-year old jailed in Cole County will find out her punishment after striking a deal on a murder charge.
On October 21, 2009, Alyssa Bustamante says she strangled, stabbed, and slit the throat of her neighbor in St. Martin’s, 9-year old Elizabeth Olten. Bustamante was in court Tuesday to confess to second degree murder and armed criminal action.
The Jefferson City News Tribune says the judge said before the hearing that this is not a plea bargain, and the state is still debating what the 18-year old’s punishment will be. According to law, she could face ten to thirty to life for the second degree murder charge and three years to life for the armed criminal action.
