With the recent news of two elected officials retiring in Camden County, the Commission has the option of finding temporary replacements. According to state statute, the County Commission can appoint a temporary replacement until the Governor appoints someone to finish out the term. Presiding Commissioner Greg Hasty says they’re uncertain of their next step.
The County Collector, Vicky Burns, and the County Auditor, Ronnie Capps, both announced they would be retiring this week. The statute does not, however, require the county to appoint anyone, it just simply gives them the option to do so temporarily.
