Officials now confirm that an investigation is underway after a possible security breach of the Camden County computer system. Sources tell KRMS news that the FBI stepped in seizing some computer equipment from the courthouse after, apparent, wire tapping and other invasive internet related activities were discovered. Telephone and internet service in the courthouse was immediately cut off and remains off until the source of the breach can be figured out. County Attorney Charles McElyea issued a statement saying the county will do whatever it needs to do to protect records and sensitive information contained in the system. Affected buildings in the breach include the new and old courthouses plus the sheriff’s department non-emergency telephone numbers. At this time, it’s not known when service will be restored in the Camden County Courthouse. KRMS News will pass along any updates as they become available.
