A discussion on a controversial drug monitoring program drew a large crowd in Camden County last night. The meeting room in the county administration building was full of people on all sides of the prescription drug monitoring issue. Doctors, law enforcement officials, and Lake Regional CEO Dane Henry were among those speaking in support of the program, saying it gives them another tool to help treat patients and curb opioid addiction. Opponents say the plan violates their civil liberties. No votes were taken last night, but before the meeting, Camden County Commissioner Don Williams appeared on “The Ozarks Today” on KRMS and expressed some concerns over the proposal.

About 50 people attended last night’s meeting. Opinions covered the entire spectrum, from those in favor, those opposed, and many neutral observers seeking more information.
