The nationwide Presidential wireless alert test went off as planned on Wednesday with scattered reports of the alert not being received. Camden County Emergency Management Director Ron Gentry says, although he’s only heard from a few people not receiving the test message, he’s trying to figure out why.
Gentry also wants to remind people about a similar program which has been available in Camden County for two years now. The Nixle Alert system is generally geared toward informing residents about severe weather but also has other uses as well.
Currently, there about a thousand cell phones registered on the system. You can sign up at no charge to receive the text alert messages from the Camden County EMA office by texting your zip code to 8-8-8-7-7-7.
