Officials in Camden County are optimistic that a new court for veterans will help address some root causes that land those individuals in front of a judge. Commissioner Don Williams says the new veterans treatment court is very similar to those set up for people with drug and alcohol problems.
The court invokes military traditions and the use of a military mentor to help create a more familiar environment.
Recidivism rates for those who successfully complete the programs are below 20%. The Camden County Veterans Court will officially kick off with an opening ceremony April 26th.
