Camden County has received its first check for the maintenance of roadways in the small town of Macks Creek. The road maintenance for the small municipality will be handled by Camden County Road and Bridge crews, who are responsible for many roads in the county and all of Camdenton.
Earlier this week, Camden County Presiding Commissioner Kris Franken spoke to KRMS and confirmed that the check for the first month was on the way. Although the county had agreed to provide the service, they had refused to begin any maintenance until the check for the first month had been collected. The county had signed off on an agreement last month to take over maintenance of 4.3 miles of city roadway. The county did so with the condition that Macks Creek pay a monthly sum of $961 a month.
