County Commissioners from Camden County are looking for the authority to enforce regulations and punish offenders when it comes to the Land Use Act, particular rules and recently added code revisions. A contingency of private property owners are fighting against what they call government intrusion. The lines were drawn on Feb. 15 during a public hearing. A group of more than 50 property owners appeared to oppose the code revisions. Planning & Zoning Administrator Don Hathaway says they are not trying to intrude on peoples private rights. He explains the main purpose of the revisions is to enforce violations of buildings that are considered not conforming to zoning codes. Or, if the dwellings house the storage of dangerous materials, or buildings that are a danger or a nuisance to the other residents.
