There is a new sheriff-elect in Camden County. During Tuesday’s Primary Election, Tony Helms pulled out a narrow 4,406-3,996 victory over incumbent, Dwight Franklin, on the Republic ticket. That puts Helms uncontested in the November General Election. Other contested races in Camden County, all on the Republic ticket, Beverly Thomas survives a hard-fought race for the District-1 Commission spot collecting 1,841 votes compared to 1,055 for Tom Walker and 386 for Tom Pedrola. In the race for the District-2 Commission seat it was Don Williams Junior pulling out a narrow victory over Tiffany Maasen 1,806-1,725. Jerry Rugen was next with 451, Rod Sederwall with 412, Jimmie Burns with 377 and J-D Eidson with 255. And in the County Assessor race, it’s Marty McGuire pulling out a narrow 3,598-3,496 win over Kayla Henry with Mike Wackerman collecting 1,111 votes. Elaine Gilley and Nancy Douglas were both unopposed, respectively, for the positions of Treasure and Public Administrator.
