Nearly four months into office, Camden County Sheriff Tony Helms is looking back at how much progress he believes he’s made within the department. He says now, he’s going to begin focusing on trying to get raises for his deputies. He says that he has been in talk with the Commission and they’re making strides toward a plan. He says the plan the Sheriff’s Department has written up proposes a 1-3% raise for deputy sheriffs.
He says the proposal is based upon a study they conducted that mapped out how it was possible. The proposal does not include anyone above the rank of Sergeant.
