More information has been released about a mid-week confrontation in Camden County that came to an end with gunfire, one person in critical condition and another taken into custody. A press release from the sheriff’s department says the incident early Wednesday morning near Decaturville reportedly happened when 33-year-old Joseph Beeman, of Linn Creek, showed up with a gun and demanded that an unidentified 25-year-old female leave there with him but she refused. Another subject in the house, 32-year-old Dustin Burkhart, retrieved his own gun telling Beeman to leave. At that time, shots were fired with Beeman getting hit, at least, twice before Burkhart called 9-1-1 requesting medical help. Burkhart was taken into custody on a no-bond probation violation warrant and now faces a felony charge for unlawful possession of a firearm. Beeman was airlifted to University Hospital and remains in critical condition. A search of the house recovered a 22-caliber weapon believed to have been used in the shooting and several items of drug paraphernalia.
