It started with a report of a missing mother and child and ended with the woman’s arrest on assault charges. Authorities responded to a call in the 600 block of Dry Ridge Road south of Camdenton yesterday. A 39-year-old woman and her 9-month-old child were reported missing from their home. The Sheriff’s Department says evidence at the scene indicated the disappearance was of a suspicious nature, and the woman and child were found in a wooded area about 75 yards from their home. Both were transported to an area hospital with injuries. 39-year-old Brandie Simpson has been charged with First Degree Assault and Armed Criminal Action against her child. She’s being held on $700,000 bond.
