The circuit court room appears to be the next venue for an ongoing dispute involving man’s best friend and city officials in Camdenton. Timothy O’Donnell addressed the board of aldermen, Tuesday night, saying that he complied with the city’s request to use an 8-point checklist in determining that his dog is NOT a pit bull but rather a lab bull terrier mix.
The issue of what breed O’Donnell’s dog is started a couple months ago when the city passed an ordinance not allowing for any other dogs to be on a property if one is considered to be potentially dangerous. The city did concede to allowing O’Donnell to keep both of his dogs provided he improve fencing, maintain $200-thousand liability insurance, post signage warning of his dog and pay an animal registration fee 10 times the normal fee…a total estimated cost of $3-thousand. O’Donnell’s request for a second appeal hearing on his dog’s breed met with resistance meaning his next course of action is to take the issue to circuit court where he is confident that the city will be overruled.
