A 21-year-old from Camdenton has now been formally charged after an alleged DWI accident while operating a utility vehicle and, subsequently, punching a first responder on the scene. The accident happened along Twin Rivers Point in late July. A probable cause statement filed in the Camden County Courthouse identifies Ryan Smythe as having been the operator of the utility vehicle. It’s also alleged that Smythe had activated the utility vehicle’s emergency lights while driving it and then punched a first responder who was trying to treat him after the accident. Smythe is charged with DWI-physical injury and assault involving a special victim, both felonies, along with a misdemeanor for activating the emergency lights when not in pursuit or on an emergency mission.
