Its official, the name change is over and a deal has been reached. At Tuesday night’s Camdenton Board of Alderman meeting, board members were met once again with opposition from veterans in the community mad about the name change of the airport. To put it in perspective, the name went from Camdenton Memorial Airport for the past several years, to Lake of the Ozarks Regional Airport, to Lake of the Ozarks Regional Airport at Veterans Memorial Field, then at the previous board meeting they nearly went back to Camdenton Memorial Airport before asking the airport advisory board one last time to come up with a name. Finally, Camdenton Memorial Lake Regional Airport was voted on and signed into existence. The board also discussed putting together an official memorial to remember the reasons why memorial is in the name in the first place and have asked the area veterans groups including the Camdenton VFW to be involved in putting it together. Camdenton VFW Commander Lance Kellogg says the board did the right thing
The name was already changed from a previous vote but will now be adjusted to reflect the new name and it will be sent to the FAA to officially be changed on the register nationwide.
