The call load for the Camdenton Police Department was down in June compared to last year. That’s part of a larger trend that shows their numbers are down for the year, as well. They handled 476 calls last month, compared to 614 in June of 2018. As of the most recent report from Chief Laura Wright, the department has responded to 2,845 calls for the year. That’s down by roughly 600 from the same time period last year. The department is waiting to hear the results of two grant applications – one for improved security in the school system, and the other for a 50% match to purchase four ballistic vests. They also plan to apply for a $10,000 grant to expand their use of body cameras.
