The Camdenton Lakers “First Laser” robotics team makes its mark in international competition. During the recent FIRST robotics championship held in Houston, Texas, the Lakers squad advanced as far as the quarterfinal round walking away with the 2018 Championship Safety Award for the second consecutive year. The Lakers “LASER”…or Laker Afterschool Science, Engineering and Robotics program…competes in various tournaments around the country. Following the competition, Senator Claire McCaskill issued a statement recognizing the Lakers’ achievement. McCaskill says the accomplishments of the robotics team is proof, with the young leaders involved, that Missouri has a bright future. More than 15-thousand students from 43 countries competed in the robotics challenge in Houston.
