Recently the Camdenton School Board has heard from the public about their policy on public comments at school board meetings. At the previous meeting, the board decided they would define the rules that they’ve had in place for several years better than before. Nancy Masterson is a member of the school board and she explains what the policy is
Masterson says the reason they cannot have a comment spoken on something not on the agenda is due to violations that could occur from the state’s Sunshine law
Masterson says if you want your item on the agenda, just let them know as there are several ways to get your point across event outside the board meetings
Masterson says that the public comment section does have a time limit so that the board can move on to managing other items within the agenda and citizens wanting to comment during that time need to make sure their item is on the agenda before they come to speak about the issue they are having.
