School safety continues to be a top priority in the Camdenton R-III district. Board members are expected to sign off on a memorandum of understanding that will place a school resource officer in the Hurricane Deck Elementary School. Superintendent Dr. Tim Hadfield says the idea was presented to the district by Sheriff Tony Helms after he had placed a community resource officer in the area.
The district would pay for the officer’s salary and benefits during the time they’re working at the school, which translates to about nine months of the year. The board meets Monday night at 5:30 at Hurricane Deck Elementary.
