The city of Camdenton is looking to clean up some slum and blight around the community. They’ll be participating in a voluntary grant program aimed at demolishing dilapidated buildings. Funding for the program comes in part from a community development block grant administered by the Department of Economic Development. Participating property owners must be willing to contribute a minimum of $500 toward the demo work, but they’ll retain the property rights once the structures are down. The city will provide a minimum of $10,000 toward the program. The proposal will go before the Planning and Zoning Commission on March 13th. The board of aldermen will vote on a resolution to participate at their meeting Tuesday night at 6 p.m.
