Should school buses be equipped with seat belts? It may be a question popping up again here in the Lake Area after a minor wreck Tuesday morning involving a bus from the Camdenton district. R3 Transportation Director Gary Cuendent says the main safety issue actually comes down to, not seat belts but rather, how many students are on a bus at any given time.
Cuendet goes on to say that not wearing seat belts will also aid in a quicker evacuation process if needed in the case of an incident. Fortunately, there were no children on the bus involved in the wreck this week and the driver was uninjured. Wind gusts at the time are being blamed for the driver losing control.
