City officials in Camdenton are showing support for community members afflicted with autism. They’re expected to sign a proclamation October 16th to declare that Camdenton is an “Autism Friendly Community.” City Administrator Jeff Hancock says it’s a gesture recognizing that the city is aware of the social and environmental factors that affect people on the autism spectrum. As part of the program, the city will partner with the group “Stars for Autism” to provide information and training to restaurants and other businesses, first responders, churches, and city staff on ways they can be more accommodating for those affected. The declaration will be signed at the Board of Aldermen meeting scheduled for October 16th.
