Earlier this week, an unnamed person was arrested in Miller County for possession of marijuana. An issue arose, however, when it came time to file charges. To go with the actual marijuana, the individual also had marijuana candies. Sheriff Bill Abbott says it was taken to Jefferson City to determine how much THC was in the candy but, according to how the law is written, that won’t have an effect on the charges.
He says he believes the law needs to be changed to be based on the weight of the drug itself, not the entire candy. He also says the outbreak of candy worries him because it could be easily accessed by children.
