A 19-year-old from Kansas City who led authorities in a multi-county pursuit after car-jacking a vehicle near Eldon will spend the next two-and-a-half years in the department of corrections. Plea hearings were heard on Monday in, both, Miller and Morgan Counties during which Kayondez Ronnele Avalo entered guilty pleas. Avalo had been accused of carjacking the vehicle at gunpoint before leading authorities through a part of Morgan County before, eventually, being captured near Sedalia in Pettis County. Avalo was sentenced in Moniteau County, on a change of venue from Miller County, to two years on a charge of first-degree tampering with a motor vehicle, and in Morgan County to another 30 months on a felony charge of resisting arrest…the sentences are to be served concurrent to each other. Avalo has been transferred to the reception and diagnostic center in Fulton.
