As you start to make travel plans, be aware that the Missouri Department of Natural Resources is going to have just four caves open this summer. Onondaga Cave, Cathedral Cave, Fisher Cave and Ozark Caverns will all be open, starting this weekend. Many other caves are going to remain closed because of white nose syndrome, a fungus that’s spreading among bats and devastating the population. You will be asked not to wear the same clothes from cave to cave, to prevent further spread.
