Efforts to make the roadways safer in Camden County are under way by law enforcement. The Camden County Sheriff’s department will be Conducting DWI sobriety checkpoints throughout the month of June. The department says the checkpoints are utilized in an effort to reduce incidents of intoxicated and impaired motorists being involved in collisions. In addition to removing drunk drivers, checkpoints are aimed at increasing awareness of driving impaired and the consequences for doing so. According to the national highway traffic safety administration, in 2012 more than ten thousand people died in alcohol related crashes and cost more than $37 billion dollars annually.
