Six people are in custody after a fraudulent return at the Camdenton Wal-Mart turns into a high speed chase. Camdenton Police say on Monday night, officers were called to the store where an employee had detained 18-year old Dylan Wofford of Springfield for trying to return something he had not purchased. The employee told police there were several other people outside in an SUV. Officers discovered the vehicle had been stolen out of Polk County. The SUV left and was found in the Murphy USA parking lot, but took off when they saw police. The SUV went west on Highway 54 where it tried to swerve into a Highway Patrol vehicle while throwing items out the windows. The chase continued onto J Road and then Highway 7. The pursuit ended in Buffalo, Missouri. Arrested were 23-year old Alex Lindsey of Independence, a 17-year old female, a 17-year old male, a 32-year old female and a 38-year old female, all from Springfield. Lindsey is charged with burglary. His cash only bond is set at 10 thousand dollars. The 17-year old male and 17-year old female are charged with stealing, resisting arrest and assault on a law enforcement officer. The 32-year old woman from Springfield is charged with stealing, resisting arrest and careless and imprudent driving. She is also wanted on a warrant for larceny from Springfield. The 38-year old woman from Springfield is charged with burglary and resisting arrest. She is also wanted on a probation violation from Lawrence County. Wofford is charged with burglary and stealing. His cash only bond is set at 10 thousand dollars. Police say more charges may be filed by the Camden County Sheriff’s Office and the Missouri Highway Patrol as a result of the pursuit.
