The Missouri departments of transportation and health and senior services are teaming up for an informational campaign to help you keep your children safer when on the roadways. Car crashes are identified as a leading cause of death for children one to 13 years old but, according to the joint effort, the chances of your child becoming a statistic can, at least, be minimized. It’s recommended that you make sure children are properly secured in an age appropriate seat at all times. Patrick McKenna, director of MoDOT, says it’s not just about following the law. In 2016 alone, in Missouri, 18 children under the age of eight were killed and 47 others suffered serious injuries in motor vehicle crashes…twenty-nine percent of the children killed were not restrained.
