Residents of Eldon could potentially be put in danger if proposed cuts are approved by the city’s Board of Aldermen. The budget proposal as drafted calls for the elimination of three full-time firefighter positions. Sources tell KRMS News that additional volunteers are expected to leave if the cuts are approved, leaving the department extremely short-handed. The department has just six full-time firefighters on payroll and would be forced to rely on support from a dwindling base of volunteers. The board is expected to vote on the budget Thursday, December 19th at 6pm.
