A Coffman Bend area man is lucky to be alive after falling some 150-feet down a steep hill he was trying to go down to get to a dock. That’s according to Coffman Bend Fire Chief Todd Watson who says the man was discovered wedged against some brush requiring personnel to set up a rope rescue. The unidentified man was lowered from the point he was discovered to a boat waiting on the water and then taken to a nearby dock before being flown to University Hospital with a broken femur, a deep laceration, a broken nose and a concussion…he was described as conscious and alert on Sunday facing surgery for the broken femur. Personnel at the scene also had to use ropes to pull a firefighter from Coffman Bend up the hill after he became overheated during the effort…he was also taken to the hospital for treatment. Personnel from the Northwest and Mid-County Fire Districts, the Camden County-Mercy Ambulance District and the Camden County Sheriff’s Department assisted at the scene.
