At the last meeting of the Cole Camp Board of Alderpersons, a local resident made an argument to the city that the Malathion spray used to control the local mosquito population was not only not working, but it is toxic to humans and it was killing off the Monarch butterflies in the community, a species that is decreasing across the united states. The group agreed to look into other types of sprays to solve that issue. The board also accepted possession of the Fordney school house building. The Fordney school foundation is attempting to restore building.
