Columbia Man Sentenced To Jail For Soliciting Sex With A Child

A Columbia man convicted of soliciting a minor for sex is headed to federal prison for 15 years with no parole.

In January, 52-year-old Jeffrey Johnson pleaded guilty to trying to engage in a criminal sexual act with a person who ended up being an undercover cop.

Johnson admitted to using a website to get help finding a juvenile to have sex with.

Court documents show it wasn’t the first time Johnson had tried to have sex with a child.

Johnson was arrested in August 2019 when showing up at a motel where he thought a mother and her daughter would be meeting him.
