A proposed constitutional amendment is making its way through the House that could have a big effect on how municipalities approve new businesses. HJR 20 would prohibit political subdivisions from authorizing a TIF without voter approval. Osage Beach City Administrator Jeana Woods says this idea could steer people away from obtaining TIFs.
Woods also says that the details of a TIF can be complicated and the TIF Commission and Board of Aldermen look into the projects in detail to understand the specifics. The proposal was most recently sent to the Rules Committee for Administrative Oversight.
