When lake area voters head to the polls on Tuesday, in addition to state and federal races and statewide ballot initiatives, they’ll also be deciding on a handful of contested races at the county level.
In Camden County, Presiding Commissioner, County Clerk, Circuit Clerk, and County Auditor seats are all contested. For Presiding Commissioner, Republican Greg Hasty faces challenges from Democrat Shari Gaddy and Libertarian Marshall Peterson; Libertarian James O’Brien challenges Republican Rowland Todd for County Clerk;Independent Michael Dorf faces Republican Jimmy Laughlin for the County Auditor spot; and the Circuit Clerk race is between Republican Jo McElwee and Democrat Melissa Mackay, who lost in the primary but changed parties to challenge the incumbent again in the general election.
In Morgan County, Republican Tony Stephens faces Democrat James Vaughan for Presiding Commissioner and Republican Aimee Worthley faces Democrat Cathy Daniels for County Clerk.
