Local law enforcement and prosecutors are hoping some recent convictions and sentencings in Camden County will put a dent into the sex trafficking trade in the Lake Area. Prosecuting attorney Heather Miller says, with multiple agencies working together, her office is able to get a better case filed against the perpetrators…
Miller also says the sex-trafficking trade is not a new problem in the area and the recent increased attention and successful prosecution in such cases goes beyond just spreading awareness of the problem…
Three recent cases coming to an end with Gary Morton, Andrew Lester and Dustin Thomas being sent off to prison are prime examples, according to Miller, of the system working the way it should. The Thomas case has also been identified by the State Attorney General’s office as being part of the larger sex-trafficking problem in Missouri.
