Camden County has invoked the coordination process.
Presiding Commissioner Kris Franken made the announcement over the weekend at the Ameren town hall, saying that federal agencies are required to sit down with local leaders by law.
The coordination requirement is part of the Federal Land Policy Management Act of 1976. Franken says the goal is an equal say with agencies like the EPA, U.S. Fish and Wildlife, MoDNR, and Missouri Department of Conservation.
Franken said if there was consistency issues like the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission would never arise.
The presiding commissioner says the county is also looking at Chapter 64 of the Missouri Revised Statutes.
Franken says the law in Chapter 64 would require a long process of local implementation.
