In a story first reported by KRMS News, we told you about a long-time person of interest being arrested and charged with being an accessory to a 2001 cold-case murder in Miller County. But, after 19 years, what was the turning point in locating the suspect identified as, now, 53-year-old Tabatha Mae Carter…
Sheriff Gregoire also says, despite the length of time that passed between the murder and the arrest, at no time did the department give up on trying to find the person, or persons, responsible for the murder of Jerry Jeffries…
Carter was taken into custody in Oklahoma and transported, first, to Morgan County on a probation violation. Since then, she has been transferred to the Miller County Jail and formally charged with accessory to first-degree murder and accessory to armed criminal action…she is being held on no bond. No other arrests, to date, have been reported in the case.
