Sherry Neilson is the owner of a strip mall where recently a new church was built. There usually are not problems with the location of a church, however in this instance there are a few issues that will have to be decided by the public in a hearing on Monday, April 2nd. There is a bar, the Osage Bar and Grill located across the street, where by law you can not serve alcohol within 300 feet of a Church. Also Laurie Prohibits churches from being in a commercial district, which is actually the 3rd problem, it is illegal to regulate where a church can be located anywhere in the country. The Board of Alderman will ask a local attorney to draw up ordinances that allow a church to be in c1 and c2 commercial property by the next meeting
