With the April 15th deadline to file state and federal tax returns quickly approaching, the Missouri Department of revenue is offering a number tips to lake area residents. For example, they encourage people to file electronically if possible as e-filing is a convenient, quicker, more accurate and secure way to file a return. They also encourage filers to make sure they’ve signed their returns, double checked all math and that all necessary forms are attached. The department also recommends filing for an extension if you know you’re not going to meet the April 15th deadline. However, they say filing for an extension does not extend the time to pay taxes that are due.
