After a shooting death on Saturday, the Tipton police and the Missouri Highway Patrol’s division of Drug and Crime control begin conducting an investigation. On Saturday night at approximately 11:20 PM, officers respond to 420 Railroad Avenue in Tipton to a person suffering from a gunshot wound. Officers arrived minutes after the call and it was determined that Robert Ashbaugh a 19 year old resident of Tipton was deceased. Preliminary investigation indicates Ashbaugh was shot by an acquaintance during horseplay involving a firearm. Ashbaugh was transported to the University of Missouri Hospital in Columbia at the request of the County Corner pending an autopsy. No other people were injured in the shooting and no arrests were made at the scene. This investigation is continuing by the Division of Drug and Crime Control.
