Hunters across the state made a major contribution to help the hungry during this past deer season. The Missouri Department of Conservation and the Conservation Federation of Missouri say thousands of hunters donated 289,292 pounds of venison to the state’s Share The Harvest program. That included nearly 5600 whole deer. That far eclipses last year’s donation total, which checked in at 198,277 pounds. Share The Harvest is a coordinated effort that provides lean, healthy venison to hungry Missourians through various food banks and pantries across the state.
