The Missouri Department of Conservation is reporting over 227-thousand pounds of deer meat have been donated to the state’s Share The Harvest program. The M.D.C. says more than 44-hundred deer hunters helped feed hungry Missourians during the 2013 deer harvest. Share the harvest combines the efforts of hunters, local supporting organizations and more than 100 participating meat processors to get ground venison to people in need through local food banks and pantries. The program started in 1992 and has provided more than 3.1 million pounds of lean, healthy, venison to help feed Missourians in need.
