It’s no secret that the lake area is challenged when it comes to adequate internet service being available in the more rural parts and, in the case of Camden County, efforts are now being made to remedy the problem.
Commissioner Don Williams has initiated discussions with WISPER which is already available in some areas of the lake.
A conference call between Williams and representatives from WISPER centered around the possibility of getting near-term service in areas around Lake Roads 7-6 and 7-9, Iron Town and Z-Road.
Cell-tower locations and federal grants to provide rural service will be looked at in the coming weeks before a second conference call is set up.
Williams says the effort is in response to residents and business owners in the areas of Roach, Greenview and Climax Springs.
