Area 911 dispatchers are giving reminders on the “do’s and don’ts” of using the emergency call system. Non-emergency calls for information have been a growing concern recently, and they take away from valuable response times.
That was Linda Clemons from Camden County. Osage Beach’s Kwabena Asante adds that frivolous, prank, or even accidental calls tie up resources.
Keep in mind when giving your kids old cellphones as toys, even inactive phones can call 911, requiring dispatchers to call back to determine if you are okay. Only call in a case of a true emergency, and have as much information available as possible regarding your location.
