An apparent ongoing dispute between two neighbors in Stover lands one of them, a 65-year-old, in the Morgan County Jail. The probable cause statement filed in the courthouse indicates that the sheriff’s department responded on October 31st to a report of property damage. A possible suspect was identified and the deputy questioned Alfred Gomez who, reportedly, had had a history of confrontations with the reporting party. Gomez denied having anything to do with the damage or having any weapons inside the residence. However, after receiving consent to search the residence, the deputy discovered at least two .22 caliber rifles along with various types of ammunition, an undisclosed quantity of Hydrocodone pills, and a glass pipe which field-tested positive for methamphetamine. Gomez was taken into custody and is formally charged with felony unlawful possession of a firearm and two felony counts of possessing a controlled substance. He’s being held on a $40,000 bond.
