The double murder trial of Steven Ray Endsley will now be heard in Laclede County after a motion seeking a change of venue from Camden County was sustained in circuit court earlier this week. Endsley is charged with two counts each of first-degree murder and armed criminal action along with one count each of burglary and arson in connection to what is being called a possible hate crime over sexual orientation. It’s alleged that Endsley had been at odds over the issue with 29-year-old Danielle Smith and her mother, 61-year-old Teresa Jackson, before stabbing both women to death and then setting their home on fire in an effort to conceal the murders during the early morning hours of August 29th. With the change of venue, a pre-trial conference which had been scheduled for April has been cancelled and, as of right now, Endsley’s next court date has not been set.
