A bill proposing a drug monitoring program in the state is working its way through the Senate pretty quickly. The bill was passed by the House last Monday and it received its first reading in the Senate the same day. The Executive Session was held last Thursday after a Public Hearing and it was voted do pass. The only obstacle the bill has now before going to Governor Eric Greitens’ desk is a possible filibuster by Senator Rob Schaaf, who has been known to filibuster such bills in the past. He has publicly stated he would not with this one as long as they amend it to make it mandatory for doctors to use the database. The sides are currently working to come to an agreement.
