This Saturday is another national prescription drug take-back day. Held in conjunction with the Drug Enforcement Agency, law enforcement agencies, health departments, and cities across the country are setting up drop-off points where you can dispose of any unused, unwanted, or expired medications. The goal is two-fold – get the medicines out of the home and out of the reach of people they were not prescribed for to avoid potential abuse, and to dispose of the medicine properly so that it doesn’t end up flushed down the drain and in the water supply. Locally, there will be drop-offs at Hy-Vee in Osage Beach, the Morgan County Justice Center, and Laurie, Crocker, Warsaw, Lebanon, and California police departments from 10am-2pm. There are permanent drop sites at the Camden and Miller county sheriff’s offices, Osage Beach City Hall, and Eldon, Lake Ozark, and Iberia police departments.
