54 pounds of unused and expired prescription drugs were collected in Camden County during Saturday’s
Drug Take Back Day event. That’s 54 pounds of drugs kept from reaching the hands of potential abusers
or our ground water. Sheriff Dwight Franklin thanked the Camden County Ambulance and Sunrise Beach
Fire Protection district for use of their facilities during the event, Osage Beach Police Department for their
involvement, and Reserve Deputies that manned the take back sites in Camdenton, Climax Springs,
Mack’s Creek, and Sunrise Beach. The drugs collected in our area Saturday have been shipped to the
Drug Enforcement Agency office in Illinois to be burned in an incinerator today.
